Drug Withdrawal and Emotional Recovery

Part of the big lie of biopsychiatry, and of our pill culture in general, is that you can avoid the basics of self-care by taking a drug. It is so tempting to embrace the illusion that you can escape responsibility for altering your lifestyle, that you can avoid the ruthless discipline that is necessary to live a decent life in a society which is so alienated and distressed. You have to sacrifice the fantasy that someone, or some doctor, or some drug is going to mate anything all better for you. The truth is that life is, in many ways, an arduous journey. And coming off psychiatric drugs can be a particularly intense part of that journey.

The pain of isolation when one has chronic illness (and moving beyond that, too)

Being reminded of these simple practices I find is almost always helpful.

The numbers of drug users keep climbing even as there is more and more data on how dangerous long-term psychotropic drug use can be. These medications should be a last resort and then used for crisis intervention only…anything more is too toxic for the body in a multitude of ways and is covered over and over again in the archives of this blog. Just for starters look here and here and here and here. That’s a simple way to look at some of the destruction psychotropics cause.

Some thoughts from this morning

Musings from today: One can feel transient hate and anger without attachment or aversion and it dissipates as quickly as it rises…poof… If one watches ones feelings (in general) without attachment or aversion they just are and do not need to mean anything. They are passing weather. I wonder why if one’s feelings changes with [...]

Pills for the Brain or Respect for the Soul?

In ancient times, spiritual vitality and mental health were considered identical. People did not conceive of a mind separate from the soul.
