Mindfulness is paying attention

Jon Kabat-Zinn discusses what mindfulness and meditation are really about: presence of heart. This was part of a talk put on by UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center.

I’ve said the same thing myself. In fact I titled another  post a while back, Meditation is the PRACTICE of learning to PAY ATTENTIOn. That is all. Here Jon Kabat-Zinn says the same thing. It’s about paying attention in a systematic way.

Later on the system can also fall away.

Here are some books by Jon Kabat-Zinn. You really can’t go wrong. I’ve often recommended Wherever You Go, There You Are as a beginning text, but he now also has a newer book that I’ve not read called Mindfulness for Beginners: Reclaiming the Present Moment–and Your Life:

Two more popular ones:

●  Full Catastrophe Living: Using the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind to Face Stress, Pain, and Illness

●  Coming to Our Senses: Healing Ourselves and the World Through Mindfulness
