A quote and some inspirational links to follow

“A sacred illness is one that educates us and alters us from the inside out, provides experiences and therefore knowledge that we could not possibly achieve in any other way, and aligns us with a life path that is, ultimately, of benefit to ourselves and those around us.”     — Deena Metzger

It comes from this page “At home in the body” from the site of an organization Gratefulness.org founded by Brother David Steindl-Rast, a benedictine monk who worked with Thomas Merton.

For those of you who have never heard of Thomas Merton, he was one heck of a cool monk and worth getting familiar with.

I’m also finding all the websites I’ve linked to full of fascinating and uplifting articles and experiences.

  1. thank you km. I will proudly post the award you’ve given me with the others I’ve received at the bottom of my side bar.

just so you know, I no longer participate in memes otherwise, but I always greatly appreciate the recognition…

    thank you very much.

  2. gianna,

last night i nominated you at my blog for that lemonade award passing around the blogosphere.

although i don’t visit your website and all others as often as i’d like, your words have ALWAYS been an inspiration to me. just wanted you to know that.

all my best and happy holidays.

  3. Gianna,
I love Deena Metzger’s work…if I was stranded on an island and could only take one book, it would be Deena’s “Writing for your Life” (and a good supply of notebooks and pens!).
