Elizabeth Gilbert: A different way to think about “genius” and creativity

Dedicated to all my blogger friends who struggle with our creativity and our understanding of it.

From the youtube site that posted this video:

Elizabeth Gilbert muses on the impossible things we expect from artists and geniuses — and shares the radical idea that, instead of the rare person “being” a genius, all of us “have” a genius. It’s a funny, personal and surprisingly moving talk.

When I’m healthy and I’m moved to write. I am like the poet that Elizabeth talks about. Now the writing doesn’t come as thunderously.

Elizabeth actually moved me to tears by the end of this.

  1. This moved me to weeping as I was a protege of one of the worlds finest african american country blues musicians and then I got drugged and STOPPED. Now I struggle with my insrument as I have no distractions (boyfriend) and I am still detoxing and feel nothing. I used to sleep with my guitar. I used to play 4 hours a day. I performed. I opened up for him. And then I dissappeared with a phony explanation. The video really helped me understand a lot of things. Thank you.
