Do no harm — quote of the day

If you can, help others; if you cannot do that, at least do not harm them. -Dalai Lama

  1. Keeping that in mind:

I was clicking around this morning for info on migraines and stumbled upon a blog called Neurotopia that elucidated a recent clinical trial to test Short Term Treatment of PMS with SSRI’s; Paxil was used. Scicurious writes:

“Humans are generally tougher to work with than animals, they’re always on all sorts of other drugs, and getting them to show up for tests is much more difficult.”

    Even better:

“Another issue is that, since 40% of the women felt nausea on paroxetine, they probably knew when they were on the drug, and so the results may have been a little biased. I know that many people working on humans have to deal with that confound all the time. When a person knows they are on a drug, they will behave differently.”

The last paragraph in the article is golden. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. I wonder if it’s PMS…
