The Supreme Court has also said that animal sacrifice is also acceptable.
But, yah, you would think that if livestock were treated better, they’d produce better tasting meat.
We are such a “schizophrenic” (forgive the term) nation/world when it comes to animals.
We dot on pets. We are spending more and more money on pet food, toys, health care. We are considering pets a part of the family more than any other generation, but when it comes to “other” animals…like the ones we like to eat, well we are mean, cruel, and we just don’t want to hear about it.
Treat dogs or cats the way we treat cows, pigs or chickens…and you would be charged with animal cruelty. My little dog is cut and a part of the family…but most of the general population doesn’t give two hoots about how their beef was treated when it was a cow. Yes, all animals do have the own unique personalities. I am not against eating meet. I am just against being mean to animals while they are alive.
