Mothering for the mother. Makes good sense. Nurturing and love is what heals. I’m sure this sort of support can help fathers too.

Abusive mothers improve their parenting after home visits, classes, emotional support from therapists — PhysOrg.com — A new study has found that mothers in families in which there is a history of child abuse and neglect were able to reduce how much they cursed at, yelled at, slapped, spanked, hit or rejected their children after a series of home visits from therapists who taught them parenting skills.

This is one of those articles/studies in which my response is “did this really have to be proven?” and yet it’s a good thing I suppose for anyone who might not realize that the nurturing of children are the roots of good mental health.

Kids of Extra-Affectionate Moms Are Better Adjusted Adults, Study Says – ParentDish  — People whose mothers showered them with affection as infants are better equipped to cope with the stresses of life when they are adults, according to an article in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.
