This is what it’s like to be chronically ill: Ken Wilber shares his experience

Ken Wilber has been chronically ill for many years…some details may be different, but protracted withdrawal issues are very similar too.

This sort of illness tends to be an up and down sort of thing. It can be very difficult to deal with and unaffected people rarely understand. I lately had a serious setback and I’ve learned it’s not very pleasant to even talk about because people want you better so badly that they will invalidate the very real difficulties that we face all the time.

Over the past few years there has been a tremendous outpouring of compassion and concern from the integral community for Ken Wilber’s wellbeing. As many people know, Ken has been dealing with some health-related challenges in recent years that have impacted his ability to show up for public appearances, and worse, has forced him to take a brief sabbatical from his writing. In this clip from his 2012 What Next keynote address, Ken offers us a brief update about his health and makes an incredibly exciting announcement:

Ken is writing again!
