Eat anything you want…

Eat anything you want. Just cook it YOURSELF! (says Michael Pollan)

I can’t eat anything I want in the broad sense given my food intolerances, but I really like this way of thinking. I do cook or prepare all my food and I do not eat anything out of a box, can or jar. (with some very few exceptions) It really does change the way you eat in very deep and meaningful ways. And it changes the way you think about food as well. It’s been a really great education for me to consider how food comes to my table. I also have come to appreciate cooking in a whole new way and I always fancied myself good in the kitchen. There is a way that being in touch with my food has allowed me to become more in touch with myself, as animal and human. It’s very much a sort of mindfulness practice.

Michael Pollan is an award-winning food writer whose books include, “Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation“, “In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto” and “The Omnivore’s Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals
