Recently I’ve been listening to some lovely audio files by Music for Deep Meditation. I did a previous post and this is my second since I just got a new album with two new long pieces of OM sounds.
Some of this post I’m reposting from the first, but I also want to add that listening to this OM music has been my go to migraine cure. Instead of a migraine lasting 48 hours as they used to, now, I get in bed with headphones on and listen to OM. Every time (and it’s now been 5 or 6 times) my migraine has gone away by the end of going through the audio files. Sometimes the headache actually gets worse before it gets better but the sound of OM while in deep meditation allows me to surrender completely to the pain and oddly enough the pain becomes information and thus becomes healing. I can’t explain it beyond that and words do no justice to this sort of thing, but there you have it. I should add I don’t listen to this only when I have migraines. They’re helpful, soothing and informative at many other times.
So listening to these tracks have been phenomenally heart opening and beautiful and intense and healing. Listening to this ancient sound while in meditation seems to assist in the grounding and revelatory experience both. It’s clear many folks find these sounds helpful. I’m coming to appreciate what gets labeled “hypersensitivity.” In this instance it’s a lovely and profound grace to be able to utilize what might also be considered “sound therapy.” I call it learning to live well. With this body and these capacities.
I am learning to embrace my experience in this body. I’m grateful today for that which is often considered a negative. Sensitivity can be a wonderful gift.
If this particular sound isn’t for you, find something that is. Sound heals.
I do recommend headphones.
Here is a bit of the new album I just got. I love both of them.
The syllable of Om or AUM is said to be the primordial vibration of the universe. In the tradition of yoga, Om has been used as a powerful mantra for thousands of years. It’s sound has the power to carry the listener’s awareness into a deep state of meditative absorption.

The piece excerpted for the video is from this album Chanting Om Vol. II – Splendor of Yoga
The one I’ve used most often for migraines is this one: Chanting Om – Meditation On the 7 Chakras & Savasana Sound Bath Therapy
