blah blah blah blah blah blah

some thoughts from around the internet in the last few days:

In response to this article I saw tweeted:

Psychiatric drugs killing more users than heroin, cocaine, say health experts

I wrote these words:

Zyprexa alone killed far more than Vioxx ever did in same time it was on the market (Vioxx was taken off market) Zyprexa continues to kill

Because Zyprexa is an antipsychotic & given to those considered truly “crazy” it’s not in the news all the time like Benzos in are starting to be in the above article

Zyprexa actually kills more people, but again, it kills people who no one fights or advocates for. Lots of very “normal” people take benzos. The politics of who gets advocated for and noticed is a repulsive reality that we must become aware of.

It’s far easier for the public to accept what is passed off as reasonable risk for people they consider throw aways. Psychotic people. I was once labeled psychotic. It’s bullshit. We are not throw aways. We have to stop giving people drugs that kill. All people regardless of psych diagnosis.

Zyprexa has killed more people than Vioxx ever did –  (article from 2008 with documentation…it remains timely and when you consider Zyprexa and the other drugs mentioned have gone on killing people it’s very sobering)

Part of problem with health professionals for those of us who know our bodies is that most people *want* to be told what to do… so when they encounter those of us who neither want to be told nor do we need to be told what to do they simply don’t know what to make of it and most people end up feeling like it’s a slight to their ego. That’s when the nastiness begins.

egoic control and healing do not go together. the controlling ego is energetically opposed to the healing process.

I said *health* professionals and I mean all of them everywhere … conventional and alternative (potentially) have this problem…it’s not that there are not also excellent folks out there, it’s just that human nature is such that egoic issues come into play often among those who fancy themselves caretakers. It’s a hazard for those of us who are sensitive.

And yes, it just happened to me again today while getting cranial sacral! (a bodywork modality that has been very helpful to me) it’s not supposed to happen when you get body work, god damn it. bums me out. Still a magnet for it.

I was going to a new person. I will stick with the one I usually go to…she’s great but I need to get appointments 3 weeks out and I wanted some cranial sacral today. Sometimes that’s the only lesson. Stick with the lovely person you are already working with!!

This video gets into this issue more deeply…and considers what can be done for those of us who have a hard time finding safe practitioners due to how sensitive we are. —  A message to those labeled by psychiatry

Hemp. I love you. Thank you, oh wondrous plant and ally.
My dear hemp: you provide food, paper and medicine…you provide building materials and clothing. You are a wondrous friend and ally.

Newsflash: We live in a psychoactive world. Everything is psychoactive. All food, substances and people are psychoactive.

Oliver Sacks would have appreciated my bizarre neurological issues. For sure.

I’m an evolutionary freak and I intersected with psychiatry. Nothing can stop me now. Psychiatry made me what I am but it did so via grave and debilitating injury that kills far too many. There are kinder and gentler ways. I suggest we learn them so that others need not die or go through what I did. (visit the drop-down menus at the top of this page for lots of suggestions on how to go about healing)

Once someone has shown me disregard it’s very hard to maintain respect for them. I am in inner inquiry as to how this might be accomplished.

*it is potentially dangerous to come off medications without careful planning. Please be sure to be well educated before undertaking any sort of discontinuation of medications. If your MD agrees to help you do so, do not assume they know how to do it well even if they claim to have experience. They are generally not trained in discontinuation and may not know how to recognize withdrawal issues. A lot of withdrawal issues are misdiagnosed to be psychiatric problems. This is why it’s good to educate oneself and find a doctor who is willing to learn with you as your partner in care.  Really all doctors should always be willing to do this as we are all individuals and need to be treated as such. See: Psychiatric drug withdrawal and protracted withdrawal syndrome round-up

It’s become clear to me that whenever it’s possible that it’s helpful for folks who’ve not begun withdrawal and have the time to consider a carefully thought out plan to attempt to bring greater well-being to your body before starting the withdrawal. That means learning how to profoundly nourish your body/mind and spirit prior to beginning a withdrawal. For suggestions on how to go about doing that check the drop-down menus on this blog for ideas. Anything that helps you learn how to live well can be part of your plan. That plan will look different for everyone as we learn to follow our hearts and find our own unique paths in the world. Things to begin considering are diet, exercise and movement, meditation/contemplation etc. Paying attention to all these things as you do them helps too. The body will start letting us know what it needs as we learn to pay attention.

  1. I agree. I personally witnessed Zyprexa given to young anorexic patients. They were literally lied to about the drug. They were told the pill was for sleep or for “anxiety.” These prison guards even told the inmates the pill was to “calm them after a meal” and “might help them digest better.” I heard this and other lies. What they NEVER said was the main intent was rapid weight gain because the insurance companies were pressing to get the kids to gain faster. Get the numbers up. All based on money, nothing to do with “health.”

I confronted the head nurse. I asked her why this drug was being used deceptively like that. I was a patient at the time. I told her i questioned the ethics of literally lying to patients. She said something about the ends justifying the means.

However, this was THEIR ends. This had nothing to do with our well-being. We were prisoners.

I noticed, of course, that I was separated from other patients during my stay, that the staff rarely allowed me to speak with the others and cut me off if ever I revealed the truth about Zyprexa and other drugs. I was beginning to “come out.” If you could call it that.

In other settings, Zyprexa was given directly via injection into the tubes used for tube feeding. I suspect this was also done where I was held, but I am not sure. I often saw tiny bags attached. This was “meds.” So…..

That plus many patients are watched 24/7, and many have NO privacy while peeing, while showering, etc.

Most of us were forcefully silenced and couldn’t speak out about the abuses. I insisted on not remaining silent, which is why I had to make a run for it.
