Heavy metal, gut bugs, the brain and profound healing

I’m doing heavy metal detox…intense. Rarely mention it because people don’t understand how insane it is. I can feel metal leaving my brain.

Metal hangs out in biofilms  with infectious agents…as this comes out so does decades & lifetimes–via ancestral lineage — of emotional crap.

Virtually no support during this process, really…not that I’ve found anyway because most practitioners are woefully misinformed…

Some people do have some experience with metal and infectious agent toxicity but no one knows how to handle those labeled with “severe” mental illness.

The intensity of what comes up and through that must be processed simply blows the minds of most professionals of all stripes…

That’s why they lock us up…few know how to hold space for us without going into ugly, controlling shadow shit that further traumatizes us.

Anyway…blah. I speak mostly to the wall, I’m sure.

( I’ve been doing it for several years in baby steps…this year it’s taking on steam…it’s a nightmare AND the most fascinating thing I’ve ever done.)

Frankly, what the professionals don’t understand is how little we know or understand about what is really happening-makes them dangerous

The only way through this is by learning our own bodies and selves so intimately we become one with nature…

We are dealing with the mystery of life and being and nothing less.

(I learned to take care of my own body by reading and experimenting with dozens of different ideas from different sources — most of which all believed they had the RIGHT way to do something even though many were hugely contradictory. This is the reality on the ground. We MUST learn to trust ourselves because we’re all different and NO ONE has all the answers. Helping others, therefore, means simply supporting them while they learn to do this because we do not know what is right for another human being. My experience and ideas are shared only as a little piece of reality as experienced through my body and nothing more. Take what works and shed the rest.)

The concept of “possession” is hardly far-fetched when one comes to understand the nature of microbes in the body. We are, indeed, possessed

Every bug inhabiting our body is a living thing with a manner of consciousness. Some of these bugs affect our consciousness in profound ways

To mock the idea of “possession” as simply primitive and foolish shows our own lack of understanding of, well, science.

*it is potentially dangerous to come off medications without careful planning. Please be sure to be well educated before undertaking any sort of discontinuation of medications. If your MD agrees to help you do so, do not assume they know how to do it well even if they claim to have experience. They are generally not trained in discontinuation and may not know how to recognize withdrawal issues. A lot of withdrawal issues are misdiagnosed to be psychiatric problems. This is why it’s good to educate oneself and find a doctor who is willing to learn with you as your partner in care.  Really all doctors should always be willing to do this as we are all individuals and need to be treated as such. See: Psychiatric drug withdrawal and protracted withdrawal syndrome round-up

It’s become clear to me that whenever it’s possible that it’s helpful for folks who’ve not begun withdrawal and have the time to consider a carefully thought out plan to attempt to bring greater well-being to your body before starting the withdrawal. That means learning how to profoundly nourish your body/mind and spirit prior to beginning a withdrawal. For suggestions on how to go about doing that check the drop-down menus on this blog for ideas. Anything that helps you learn how to live well can be part of your plan. That plan will look different for everyone as we learn to follow our hearts and find our own unique paths in the world. Things to begin considering are diet, exercise and movement, meditation/contemplation etc. Paying attention to all these things as you do them helps too. The body will start letting us know what it needs as we learn to pay attention.

  1. Monica, thanks for all the work you have done, You have helped me stay off psych drugs.
In the above post, you say you are detoxing off of heavy metals. I dont understand where they came from into your system. What you are detoxifying from, and where you got it into you. If you do have a moment I would be really interested to know the answers to this. Its all foreign to me as yet. I did hear something about his elsewhere I think.
Is it something we are ALL being exposed to? Or are you referring to stuff thats got into your own body through circumstances specific to you.
    Thanking you, Susan.
(PS if you are too busy- or not up to answering, thats fine by me)

    1. My integrative rheumatologist told me that if too much in the way of heavy metals hits the immune system all at the same time, the body and the immune system can’t cope with detoxifying it all, they literally can’t get it out fast enough. So the remaining heavy metals that can’t escape find their way into bones and tissues, eventually settling deep in there, which then contributes to undermining and/or weakening an already weakened immune system. His theory is that chelating helps to unburden the immune system so it can start to correct itself. He said the word “chelation” comes from Greek and literally means “claw” because whatever you are using to chelate, apparently grabs onto the heavy metals allowing them to be excreted naturally (via urine and feces). Interesting stuff.

I flipped several houses 20 years ago in England and sanded a ton of lead paint without wearing a mask. I’ll never know but I’m guessing that’s where my insanely high lead levels came from, but it doesn’t explain high levels of other metals which also showed up when I was tested. Like Monica said they can come from so many sources.

    2. Yes. Thank you for replying Monica.
I suspect that a person who has been exposed to the toxicity of psyche drugs has an extra reason to try to rid of other toxic things in thier bodies, because they are already behind the 8-ball. Makes sense. Thank you

  2. Ha yes, I can relate to sensitivity issues very much. I seem to need 1/10th or less of what other people take of things (meds or supplements), even then may overreact, and often I can’t take stuff daily as my body gets overwhelmed. I’ve noticed what I overreact to changes over time. Right now for example, I’m 49 and have started having insanely over the top reactions to foods in the phytoestrogen family, no prizes for guessing why. All of which I guess is why I was surprised I did ok with the calcium EDTA IVs.

  3. Monica your posts always seem to come at the right time for me. Some thoughts on heavy metals and such, in no particular order…

I did 25 Calcium EDTA chelation IVs over a period of 2 years to help bring down extremely high heavy metals. It’s a method regarded by some as quacky, too harsh, and many other negative things. I liked it because while each IV knocked me sideways (in bed barely able to move for a few days) my body could then recover for however long I chose before the next. My delicate system couldn’t stand daily oral supplements in many ways that were just too intolerable. 2 years down the line now I step back and notice, my neurological functioning is drastically improved from where it was. I used to forget which hand was left and right. My balance was so off I’d stumble, and fell once or twice. I’d drive to the post office 2 blocks away and forget how to get home, my brain couldn’t remember the way. I no longer suffer with any of this, and I’m sure this is due to the chelation, grueling as it was. I did the last IV 6 months ago, and have felt since as if heavy metals continue to leave my body, ever so slowly.

Related — you often mention not sticking with any protocol so much as listening to your body — and I often have to keep coming back to this advice because I can get set in my ways, and inclined to keep taking something that if it seems “good for me” without paying more attention. I’ve taken a probiotic for 2 years. Recently I started suffering deep depressions and severe anxiety attacks over the smallest upsets — new for me. I stopped the probiotic, and magically both depression and anxiety were gone overnight, my entire being felt different. However 10 days after stopping the probiotic I’m now feeling very tired every day, with a slight sinus infection. So I’m going to try taking the probiotic every 2 or 3 days and see what happens. I mention this because in listening to my body, I’m 99% sure that heavy metals leaving my body has led to the gradual change in gut bacteria, which is why a probiotic that previously helped me started to cause negative symptoms instead.

Sorry this got long. It makes sense to me, not sure it will make sense to anyone else 🙂 — thanks as always for your insight Monica, so helpful.

(For anyone reading this who it helps to know — in 2008 I started titrating down a cocktail of 6 psych meds. It took 12 months. The withdrawal was hell. My “auto-immune” illness started around 2012 although looking back I now see the little ways it resulted from and started right after withdrawal from psych meds. By 2014 I had gone from running 5 miles a day, to barely crawling out of bed, every system in my body unable to function. I was lucky enough to eventually find an Integrative Rheumatologist with a PhD in Immunology, who has been helping me very, very slowly heal my immune system and body since January 2015).

    1. I think my body is telling me it’s ready to stop or reduce probiotics, and that this is a good thing. I stopped for a week, felt great at first, but after 10 days got very tired so… took a probiotic this morning and perked right up again. I’m reacting to them differently than I used to, and yes I do also notice different reactions to different strains.

Re: IV chelation, my doc told me there’s a little known different between EDTA agents. Caldium EDTA vs Disodium EDTA. The former is relatively harmless, whereas the latter is the one that can be harmful. He said a lot of holistic clinics are administering IV chelation without understanding or even realizing there’s a difference. I tried to research this and there isn’t much info around online about it.
