Life force wants our camaraderie…(some thoughts arising during quarantine)

Self-medicating?  everyone self medicates. A healing diet is a form of self-medication, so is listening to calming music, or going running and doing yoga.  And sure, so is downing a bottle of wine, smoking or doing any other substance for the purpose of easing ones emotional state. Self-medicating is totally normal.  Learning to do it skillfully is the intent of a harm reduction practice. We’re creatures that survive by ingesting substances of all kinds…food and herbs included. Only thing wrong is that we’ve not been allowed be ourselves and learn to listen to our bodies.

Addiction is a response to not getting what one needed during critical developmental stages. Everyone in modern society is addicted to something. Capitalism arose along with addiction. It feeds every addiction imaginable and then some.

Remember: aversion is the opposite side of the same coin…all those folks shaking their fingers at “drug addicts” are guilty of the same. Addiction and aversion. Same/same.

The way out is through harm reduction…slowly coming to awareness of just how full of crap we are…it’s too much to go cold turkey…we are embedded. At the same time we learn how full of crap we are, we learn what amazing miracles we are. There is no joy without despair.

Our world has been in crisis for a long time. Some people are only now just waking up to it. If we’ve not been sleeping then we just keep on doing the same thing. Life is change.

The hardest evolutionary work on the planet is being done by the disenfranchised, the oppressed, the poor, the homeless, the mentally ill, addicts etc. The sensitive are the last. The last shall come first.

Fitness concept with young sporty womanYoga balls are indispensable to me. That said, I’ve been known to create similar body stretches just about anywhere (over rocks, couches, chairs, etc)…when I don’t have the ball, that is. Basic back-bend with all manner of variations with arms and legs is a favorite. It provides light traction among other things.

  1. Hello. I am currently listening to Ken Davis. It’s soft sounding relaxing music. Classical is another good one. A bit of orchestral/instrumental music like andre reiu. That is relaxing also. Apart from that, I listen to 50s 70s 80s and 90s music in general.

  2. I like a bit of country music as well . 50s,60s, 70s, 80s, 90s. I listen alot of those songs that were around. I wasnt born in the 50s but i love some of those songs such as good golly miss molly by little richard. Twist and shout. Rock around the clock. Connie francis. But mostly i feel stuck still in the 70s 80s and 90s. I don’t like alot of the music that is created these days . I don’t mind a bit of rnb but not as much. I detest rap and heavy medal.

  3. Hello. At the moment I’ve been listening Ken Davis. He has soft sounding music. Also I would like to try to get more rainforest type sounds on CD. But instrumental sounds are good too like andre reiu. Or just peaceful piano relaxation sounds are great.

  4. Hi. Listening to relaxation music is a really good thing to do. It can be quite relaxing . I do this alot. It can help when stressed or feeling down. I recommend it.
