The microbiome and healing diets

The bugs in our gut, good and bad, have consciousness. Good ones keep us happy and healthy. The bad ones mess with us in a multitude of ways. Many bad microbes colonize in ways that underscore and support neural pathways of trauma. As we heal our gut we heal both our minds and bodies. This is a synergistic relationship so one can work on emotional and psychological issues and heal the gut and one can also work on healing the gut and find that emotional and psychological issues also reveal themselves that way. Either way we must tend to both our emotional/spiritual selves and our physical body when dealing with profound healing and transformation. This may happen more or less consciously depending on levels of awareness. The more aware we become the deeper the transformation becomes. Simple mindfulness and paying attention to the body (meditation) allows such awareness to develop. … A lot of chronic illness is embodied trauma…

Detoxification (which is really about balancing the internal ecosystem): healthy living for body/mind/spirit

We are, in large part, and among many other things, an expression of the ecosystem of our bodies which include bacteria, virus, fungi and other parasites. Successful “detoxification” is really largely about bringing these microorganisms and the rest of our being into balance since most of them cannot be gotten rid of entirely in any case. In many instances we don’t want to get rid of them as in the right amount they serve a good function. We are all made up of these things in different ratios by design, really.

Physical, mental, emotional – all ONE (Chinese / Ayurvedic systems have known this for millennia)

There are many access points to the whole. Sometimes people concentrate more on different access points…like the psychological, or the physical. I’ve come to concentrate on the whole shebang because I had no choice. It was what was required that I might heal. Different folks have different paths and sometimes only one access point is enough to bring about healing that allows for basic growth and functioning. The only problem is when people imagine their access point is the only one that works and get dogmatic about it. We are endlessly diverse and so there are many different ways to go. Always. …

More on food sensitivities and healing with whole food

These are not complete or exhaustive lists. I’m simply sharing this for illustrative purposes without a whole lot of commentary. Suffice it to say a lot of people develop severe sensitivities (including food) when they withdraw from psychiatric drugs. It’s a possible manifestation of the challenged and injured autonomic nervous system. More information about food sensitivities and healing from them is included in the links at the bottom of this post.

Will these symptoms ever go away? (chronic illness and protracted psych drug withdrawal syndrome)

A question asked: (Withdrawing from psychiatric drugs) caused chronic fatigue, muscle pain, burning skin and brain fog. I NEVER had any of these symptoms prior to meds or during meds. I guess the thing I worry about is if your body can truly heal from these symptoms. Can they go away on their own? Can they go away with time?

my answer:

We need to learn to listen to and cooperate with our nervous systems…and heal…in the way that they dictate. This will be different for everyone and therein lies the challenge. …

Psychiatric drug withdrawal: preparation for before you begin

It’s become clear to me that whenever it’s possible that it’s helpful for folks who’ve not begun withdrawal and have the time to consider a carefully thought out plan to attempt to bring greater well-being to your body/mind/spirit before starting the withdrawal. I did not know to do that, but in retrospect had I known what a profoundly healthy and clean diet and healing lifestyle could do, I would have worked towards those things first. …

Heal with whole foods: transform body/mind/spirit. Heal drug damage too

I’m sharing a book today. Healing With Whole Foods: Asian Traditions and Modern Nutrition. The reason I was drawn to this work is because Paul Pitchford understands my experience with food as psychedelic and about food “reactions” having correlates in the psyche. Reactions that remain biological and physiological realities that can even be deadly at times. They act like true allergies. Healing requires engaging body/mind and spirit all. I love that this is intrinsic to his work.

Shades of awakening interview: food sensitivities and the psyche

In this interview, we talk about:
*The relationship between food and the psyche
*How healing and detoxing with whole foods can actually unearth past memories and emotions
*Why informing yourself with science AND your own inner knowing is key to finding out what works for you
*What your gut health has to do with your emotional and mental health

Remineralization…a good thing to do in preparation for drug withdrawal (as well as for general well-being)

Minerals are essential for all of our bodily functions. They are needed for bone and teeth health for our blood, skin, hair, nerve function, muscle and for all our metabolic processes. They are foundational to everything we are as physical beings. All minerals are generally in a state of depletion in modern western people because our soils suck and our food supply is so compromised in a multitude of ways.

Before withdrawing from psych meds it’s important to have some foundational well-being if at all possible so that one might mitigate severe withdrawal issues.

Healing isn’t a choice for me — it’s an imperative; my body is in charge

Healing is not always curing. People need to understand that. In the end these bodies die. So don’t misunderstand when I say they know how to heal everything. Healing is not the same as curing. What is nice about profound healing, however, is that transformation of body/mind and spirit is possible in ways that most western modern human beings aren’t even aware is possible. …
