healing is living ritual

photo depicts healing as living ritual as what I’ve called “environmental yoga” is being performed. Yoga. Right here, right now. Who needs a mat?

healing is living ritual…one must enter another world and listen to that which has been largely forgotten. …

Intro to Ayurveda (for chronic illness, psych drug withdrawal, TD)

I have gone to practitioners but, Ayurveda, at foundation, is about learning to listen to your body and know how to feed it, move it, rest it and take care of it as needed. That is always our job in the end.

I never found a practitioner who could deal with my extreme and multiple issues either. I couldn’t even leave my house for 5 years as I was bedridden. I started these practices on my own at home in my bed. I am no longer bedridden. I am no longer nonverbal.

I still have tardive dyskinesia and I still love Ayurveda with a profound gratefulness as it helped me be in touch with my body. This is good stuff for anyone in life at anytime. …

Somatic living is life itself speaking to us

Somatic living is life itself speaking to us

Dissociation is more frequently an issue then recognized. Projection (something pretty much everyone does) is a form of dissociation. Disembodiment is the norm. People avoid embodiment because the process can be physically painful… sometimes so acute it’s permanently avoided

Life force wants our camaraderie…(some thoughts arising during quarantine)

Self-medicating?  everyone self medicates. A healing diet is a form of self-medication, so is listening to calming music, or going running and doing yoga.  And sure, so is downing a bottle of wine, smoking or doing any other substance for the purpose of easing ones emotional state. Self-medicating is totally normal.  Learning to do it skillfully is the intent of a harm reduction practice. We’re creatures that survive by ingesting substances of all kinds…food and herbs included. Only thing wrong is that we’ve not been allowed be ourselves and learn to listen to our bodies. …

~~ don’t chase and don’t run away from feelings ~~ (and yoga teacher training update)

first! thanks to those of you who have made donations towards my yoga teacher training. I’m now officially enrolled. I’m excited. It’s the first ongoing commitment I have made (outside of my home) in 10 years. I was explicit about my limitations and they remained enthusiastic about my participation. I will continue taking donations. I’ve paid for one third of the $3000 tuition fee. I have until June to finish paying in monthly installments. Any help will continue to be much appreciated. ***and now some regularly scheduled odds and ends for your perusal:

Understanding

“understanding” is a problem…if one *believes* they understand they’re likely deluded…the mystery can only be understood by allowing that which cannot be understood to prevail in every moment.    #noself *** evil? I understand evil. I’ve worked on the streets among the most vulnerable my entire career. Evil is neglect. That is all evil is…. Continue Reading →

Radical insights on the physical body

In a world where everything matters, there is no such thing as (just) “psychological”. It’s undersood in yoga, for example, that our “issues are in our tissues.” Unfortunately westerners have totally forgotten this. Ayurveda/yoga is not much better when it comes to daily practice in the world, but the information is there if one needs to find it. I most certainly did…

Yoga back bends: feels yummy on the autonomic nervous system

old post continues to be helpful to folks with delicate nervous systems….yoga resurrected me…quite literally from being bedridden back onto my feet and into the world….(in tiny wee bits…as little as 2 minutes…yup…it can take lots of time rehabbing an atrophied body…but wow, yoga goes deep into the nervous system and heals…pursue it if it… Continue Reading →

Words

Trust your exhaustion. Take a rest. A nap. STOP. It’s okay. It’s good to listen to the body. *** Both silence and stillness can be found in all movement and noise as well… silence and stillness are foundational…we need not stop doing anything nor do anything in particular to find them. *** I’ve been spending… Continue Reading →
