Expansion and contraction

Today I’m very grateful for Shinzen Young. I woke with very contracted energy this morning and felt pretty distressed. I thought about how my energy contracts and expands a whole lot. When I thought about that I remembered that Shinzen Young’s youtube channel is called “expandcontract.” So I ventured over to his channel and found this dharma talk which was just exactly what I needed. Yes, guidance leads me to what I need pretty much always now. Guidance is showing me how to heal myself. … [click on title to read and view more]

Nothing Matters

By Georgi Y. Johnson What should we do when we feel as if nothing matters? A nondual look at the power of passion and its connection with boredom and the dense psychological sense of ‘nothing’. Passion is a primal nondual quality inseparable from the ‘big bang’, or the creative impetus of the whole physical universe. This… Continue Reading →

Understanding

“understanding” is a problem…if one *believes* they understand they’re likely deluded…the mystery can only be understood by allowing that which cannot be understood to prevail in every moment.    #noself *** evil? I understand evil. I’ve worked on the streets among the most vulnerable my entire career. Evil is neglect. That is all evil is…. Continue Reading →

The Election: Of Hate, Grief, and a New Story

By Charles Eisenstein first published on his site and offered freely via a creative commons copyright. Thank you, Charles. – Normal is coming unhinged. For the last eight years it has been possible for most people (at least in the relatively privileged classes) to believe that society is sound, that the system, though creaky, basically works, and that the progressive deterioration of everything from ecology to economy is a temporary deviation from the evolutionary imperative of progress.

Surrender more. Seek less.

I’ve personally found that trying to change myself actually gets in the way of healing. I am (mostly) okay with acknowledging I am not in control. Sometimes life hands you a crisis where the only way out is coming to accept that reality. For me, what happened to me on psychiatric drugs was one of those situations. In that realization too, there is grace. With grace comes deep healing. …

Returning to Dialogue – The Core of Healing Madness

When people are “mad,” they are often insisting that certain things are so, and frequently seem unwilling or incapable of appreciating or learning from other perspectives. Yet when the supposedly “sane” mental health system approaches those who are mad, it typically does the same thing …

The life-liberating impact of feeling the feeling

By Georgi Y. Johnson — The moment we choose to feel a feeling, we have moved beyond thought and into direct experience. That is, we have moved out of the programing of the temporal, linear, left brain, which builds agenda through the composition of time frames and stories. Feeling what we feel does not take place yesterday, and will not take place tomorrow. It always happens in the now. Feeling is so much in the now, that even if the thoughts are in the future, the feeling will still be in the eternal now. Because of this, when we move from consciousness to awareness, or from mental awakening to sentient presence and begin to feel what “is”, old, unfelt feelings will emerge, even if decades have passed in the interim. — Contrary to popular belief, it is not possible to “think” away a feeling. We can check it rationally and we can relativize it. We can justify, excuse, build stories and rename it. But all of this thinking activity is dependent on the allowance of the feeling in the first place. We cannot know what the feeling is that we think we are “thinking away” (by changing our thought patterns) unless we first agree to feel it. … [click on title for the rest of the post]
