Wow. It’s been a hell of a four years. This blog has gone through many editorial shifts and now it’s going through a change again. We’re getting more contributors/editors and I really love that it’s become so much more than anything I could have ever imagined when I first started writing. The author at Alt_mentalities… Continue Reading →
Update 2016: This was written for my one year anniversary free of psych drugs in 2011. I was still very very very sick and mostly bedridden. The philosophy I developed at that time carried me through. And believe me there were many times I didn’t believe it myself…still I persevered. And I got better.
So it’s my fourth month anniversary. As it was approaching I thought I wouldn’t be posting anything for it, since after a bit of a good spell things had turned for the worse and I didn’t want to share. But then I ended up posting to the benzo boards and then again sent the post… Continue Reading →
Benzodiazepines are prescribed primarily for anxiety and/or sleep issues. They are a highly problematic class of drug. Most people are not told the risks involved when they are first prescribed. This page provides information on the risks of taking benzodiazepines. It also offers information and resources for freeing oneself from benzodiazepine dependence. Although all psychiatric… Continue Reading →
The title from the ProPublica article from the other day was too good to not highlight and share. What does it mean that we are, indeed, a nation under sedation? I think it means we are not awake to what is going on around us in far too many ways and that we’d better take heed. I’m just sharing a link to the article and then cutting and pasting my benzo page below it. The benzodiazepine information page takes a critical look at the prescribing of benzodiazepines and offers suggestions about how one might free themselves if one already takes and is perhaps addicted to the drugs. … [click on title for the rest of the post]

This post includes the Beyond Meds Benzo Info Page with lots of links, info and resources. Please scroll down after the initial comments that deal with the politics of the benzo withdrawal world. … [click on title to read the rest]
As I’ve done with the recovery stories pages: here and here, I’m giving blanket permission that this post may be cut and pasted in full and shared on blogs or withdrawal boards, etc. This is a copy of the Benzo Info page that is always available under the Psych Drug Withdrawal tab at the top… Continue Reading →
I thought I would put a page together on benzo information and benzo withdrawal in particular since I have more collected info about this class of drug than the other 5 classes of psychotropic meds I’ve withdrawn from. Basically benzos and now antidepressant drugs are the two classes of drugs for which there is really quite a lot of info on the web regarding withdrawal. It’s still mostly anecdotal and not studied, but it’s been recognized much longer that there are severe problems with withdrawing from these two class of drugs so it’s easier to collect information regarding such.
So here is what has become a rather extensive collection of articles and stories that deal with just benzos.
FEBRUARY 9, 2011 I wrote the first draft of this post a month ago when I anticipated the anniversary of my completed withdrawal, knowing I can only write more extensive, complicated pieces a couple of days a month and I wanted to be sure to have a thoughtful piece prepared for my anniversary. In the… Continue Reading →
The archives of this blog now span over ten years. They are a record of a life – learning and transforming at a rate unlike any other time. I say this as a way of disclaimer. In the earlier years of this blog I am processing shock and dismay. In the early years I am… Continue Reading →
