The below sentiment is true about learning to live well in general whether you’re thinking of things in terms of spirituality or not. For example we would be much better served if we were told by mental health professionals from the very beginning to trust ourselves rather than anyone telling us what to do. Instead, the entire system is fraught with the infantilization of the client…this is (in general) true of both psychology and psychiatry as currently practiced. … [click on title for the rest of the post]
You are your own teacher. Looking for teachers can’t solve your own doubts. Investigate yourself to find the truth – inside, not outside. Knowing yourself is most important. … [click on title for the rest of the post]
As we take over our own health care and come to know our bodies we are changing the world.
I’m approaching the one year anniversary date of the second brain injury that almost killed me. I entered the ICU on December 25th of last year. I was unconscious for several days and then when I woke up I had lost virtually all my memory. Conveniently and fortunately I remembered Paul, my partner, but so confused, I also thought he was one of the MDs in the hospital. So, yeah, it’s been a long haul to where I am now. …
The catch – 22 I thought about the other day: The mental health system tells clients/patients/consumers that they need better boundaries while expecting them to ignore their boundaries.
This is a little collection of thoughts I’ve written down in the last month and a half or so. I’m still getting a grip on what happened and these are some of my musings. My best to all who visit here today and always.
Let us please open our eyes and help one another to see. Right now those in public and sanctioned positions to help us are actually harming us unintentionally. We must bring this to a stop. We must help one another. There is no motivation to heal without drugs if there are no safe places to do it. Right now it’s not safe for most people most of the time. This alone will keep people from even attempting to do it or even realize or acknowledge it’s possible. It’s scary and the fear is justified and even rational given what we face. I am in a rare and privileged and lucky position and I still get frightened too. This is scary stuff. …
The capitalistically oriented “healers” and “spiritual” teachers are the pharisees/charlatans of our time. The real shaman/medicine people are being systematically wiped out/disabled by psychiatry. We don’t have mentors because our kind have been wiped out for generations now. (think of witch hunts, for example, before psychiatry) There is no one left to recognize us as children […]
The below is a bit out of context because it was shared on twitter where I’d brought up this circumstance before. I had a friend/mentor/ teacher that I spoke to once a week for about four years and then remained in contact for a couple more. I never considered him a guru or anything but […]
Once we’re adults we cannot expect another adult to fix the infantile parts of ourselves that were never appropriately nurtured by our parents. Healing is about becoming conscious of those parts and then learning to reparent those parts for ourselves. No one else will ever know what all the little hurt children within us need. […]
