Heal with whole foods: transform body/mind/spirit. Heal drug damage too

I’m sharing a book today. Healing With Whole Foods: Asian Traditions and Modern Nutrition. The reason I was drawn to this work is because Paul Pitchford understands my experience with food as psychedelic and about food “reactions” having correlates in the psyche. Reactions that remain biological and physiological realities that can even be deadly at times. They act like true allergies. Healing requires engaging body/mind and spirit all. I love that this is intrinsic to his work.

More on food sensitivities and healing with whole food

These are not complete or exhaustive lists. I’m simply sharing this for illustrative purposes without a whole lot of commentary. Suffice it to say a lot of people develop severe sensitivities (including food) when they withdraw from psychiatric drugs. It’s a possible manifestation of the challenged and injured autonomic nervous system. More information about food sensitivities and healing from them is included in the links at the bottom of this post.

The gift of our bodies and the foods that we feed it

I wrote most of this post for The Receiving Project group which I posted about a couple of days ago. It’s got dietary info if you’re into that sort of thing. I’m healing and food continues to be a phenomenally important part of that gestalt. — Astonishing loveliness. This is a weird gift and may not mean much to most of you but it’s so HUGE and FUNDAMENTAL to me that I’m going to share it anyway. Yesterday afternoon I went to my amazing healing chiropractor man and he gave me a suggestion. … [click on the title to read and view more]

Are you addicted to sugar/carbs? other foods? (#foodie friday)

I can tell you that food addictions can be overcome…it’s taken many years of paying attention to what I eat and learning what my body needs but I no longer crave foods, nor do I ever overeat…meaning I have no DESIRE to overeat…it’s pretty phenomenally wonderful. … [click on title for the rest of the post]

Eating real whole food is important to our mental and physical wellbeing #foodie Friday

Many people who withdraw from psychiatric drugs discover excessive food sensitivities…we’re forced to change the way we eat. It seems that it may be wise for everyone to think about what they’re putting in their bodies. More and more people are also discovering this the hard way (by getting sick one way or another…psychiatric drugs just seem to be an extra catalyst). … [click on title for the rest of the post]

The woman in the below video was triggered to action when one of her children had a reaction to food. Her talk is an important part of the picture. It’s a great introduction to the issue of what has happened to our national food supply.

Shades of awakening interview: food sensitivities and the psyche

In this interview, we talk about:
*The relationship between food and the psyche
*How healing and detoxing with whole foods can actually unearth past memories and emotions
*Why informing yourself with science AND your own inner knowing is key to finding out what works for you
*What your gut health has to do with your emotional and mental health

Food as medicine

I’m not even off the introduction diet but after eliminating many many foods (most foods at this point — foods are slowly re-introduced over the course of the diet when and if they are tolerated and then after a couple of years most people can eat most real whole foods again, after the gut is healed). In any case once eliminating foods I was allergic to — within two weeks my severe and acute neuropathic pain abated. My parasthesia abated.

Most astonishingly my PTSD is gone! And so was the anger/hostility that generally arises around the time of ovulation. GONE.

All diets are bullsh*t

This is what I’ve learned during my healing trip. What made me sustain a healing diet is getting the nutrients I actually needed. Different people are in need of different nutrients at different times…macro and micro. What you eat, for that reason matters greatly. What a healing diet looks like is going to be radically different for each person and is going to change a lot for individuals over time .. if one is healing there is no such thing as homeostasis, so it follows that your needs are going to change. With my radically dysregulated nervous system my needs can change daily. So becoming acutely mindfully aware of those changing needs became critically imperative. …
