I’ve come to believe that serious microbiome issues (lyme disease) and tardyve diskinesia are essentially the same thing. Such is the experience in my body. I have lyme disease — with five documented pathogens involved. I have mostly used Buhner inspired treatments. I also have tardive dyskinesia, a collection of debilitating “symptoms” associated with pharmaceutical… Continue Reading →

Words

Trust your exhaustion. Take a rest. A nap. STOP. It’s okay. It’s good to listen to the body. *** Both silence and stillness can be found in all movement and noise as well… silence and stillness are foundational…we need not stop doing anything nor do anything in particular to find them. *** I’ve been spending… Continue Reading →

Thoughts from the road…

The last few months have been hellish and difficult. As you may have noticed I stopped posting altogether for a while. I’ve moved to a new state and am now starting a new life with my partner, Paul Woodward and our three four-leggeds. I am blessed on this planet that includes heaven and hell in… Continue Reading →

Gluten, dairy etc: Adding food back after elimination diets

I was on elimination diets for a long time and needed to be in order to quiet down the chaos in my body. I now know more than when I started and hope that the general method of learning to listen is helpful to others since I know the details will be different for everyone. Recently I went through a stint of eating lots of gluten and cheese as I add many different foods I avoided for many years back into my diet. I jokingly call it “retoxification.” …

The hungry ghosts know. Listen.

Somatic mysticism, diet and returning to my ancestry…. I like using “somatic mysticism” to explain my experience because I feel everything deeply in my body. I can feel my cells doing their work quite often and I feel all manner of metabolic movement and I feel far more than I can even begin to really… Continue Reading →

Returning to roots and well-being with food

I made eggplant Parmesan for the first time in at least 10 years. Reintroducing foods from my ancestry (I’m an immigrants daughter so it’s not far removed) I ate this way growing up, along with speaking Italian in my American home. My healing has taken me full circle. In rediscovering the diet of the people… Continue Reading →

Food: healing diets and protocols (finding one’s way through the maze)

Every single healing diet “protocol” marketed indiscriminately to everyone is a form of criminality that capitalism requires. NO ONE HEALTHY DIET IS APPROPRIATE FOR EVERYONE. And yet without shame there are 100s of “health gurus” who make this claim.

Health gurus who claim a protocol is right for everyone are at best deluded. At worst they’re contributing to the suffering of others in that they’re imposing their experience on others in a predatory fashion. They excel at making people believe they need the health guru and will often charge up to $500 or more for an hour of their time….that’s cash above and beyond the books and whatever else they’re selling.  And take heed…their targets are desperate people who are often very ill and truly need support.

This is the thing: we don’t need to be told what to eat, we need to learn how to discern it for ourselves as unique individuals. …

Life force wants our camaraderie…(some thoughts arising during quarantine)

Self-medicating?  everyone self medicates. A healing diet is a form of self-medication, so is listening to calming music, or going running and doing yoga.  And sure, so is downing a bottle of wine, smoking or doing any other substance for the purpose of easing ones emotional state. Self-medicating is totally normal.  Learning to do it skillfully is the intent of a harm reduction practice. We’re creatures that survive by ingesting substances of all kinds…food and herbs included. Only thing wrong is that we’ve not been allowed be ourselves and learn to listen to our bodies. …

Getting to know herbs (spotlight CBD)

These are relationships. You get to know the plant and how you interact with it. There are times when it’s appropriate and there are times when it is not and this is true for just about everything.

Those of us with these injuries know something about the trickster in just about any food or substance. We have a lot of sensitivities.  I find that most herbs have a sort of polarity in which they may be just what you need today but not tomorrow. And they really do act differently in the body depending on what is going on. All herbs do this in one way or another. Some are much more noticeable than others. …

Trauma release in an internet age

Part of the success of this website has been my willingness (and need) to speak things that many of my readers were thinking but not yet saying. As I’ve gotten deeper into my trauma release and healing I’ve backed away from this site in many regards and ventured into dark areas of the psyche which even many people who had followed me for a long time no longer wanted to partake in. I’ve continued to post difficult material much of which continues to be trauma release, both for myself and for those who also, like me have wandered far into the abyss, by necessity, for their healing. Most of the people I’ve had the privilege of helping on this site have a radically different history than I’ve had. This is rarely acknowledged or understood. Most of the people with histories like mine are totally and completely swallowed by psychiatry and lost forever. I don’t actually know anyone like me who has made it as far as I have off the drugs etc. It’s a tragedy that hurts me. And so…this site, in part, is trauma release in the internet age.
