Dr. Paula Caplan on how psychiatrists decide who’s normal

We focus on what are really the consequences of horrible social forces and we say lets look at this persons internal, individual, psychological problem. And that doesn't mean that a therapist or group might not be able to help somebody like that, but it means there is no prevention going on anymore...

Doctors told antidepressants are not harmless (legal action being taken for AD issues too)

Yesterday The Independent reported on the legal actions against doctors for prescribing benzodiazepines without adequate warning to the very serious potential for serious adverse problems, especially in withdrawal. Today they report on the same happening with SSRI antidepressants. Again, in the US, these issues are still widely swept under the rug and denied.

About limitations and healthy boundaries

To allow oneself to be carried away by a multitude of conflicting concerns, to surrender to too many demands, to commit to too many projects, to want to help everyone in everything is itself to succumb to the violence of our times....

Doctors sued for creating benzodiazepine (Valium, Klonopin, Ativan, Xanax, etc) addicts (UK)

The UK continues to report on the dangers of benzodiazepine drug use in a way that the US media has simply never done. All the best mainstream media coverage on this class of drug comes from the UK. There is a much deeper and uglier denial about the problem in the United States...

Perhaps something to do for the New Year?

Elizabeth Lesser in the video below opens with the idea of synthesizing the political and the spiritual which I really like and then she goes on to talk about another very important issue being the need to stop "otherizing" human beings who may not think just like us. Popular (critical) pharma journalist loses his beat because of lack of ad money

This is very important to be aware of. Mainstream media effectively censors the truth when it's not popular among advertisers. It's not a conspiracy. It's just plain and simply capitalism. The free-market. Yeah.

Minding Your Mitochondria: heal chronic illness with diet

Most chronic illnesses respond to dietary changes. What this woman discovered to help heal her MS is very similar to my discoveries that are helping me heal my iatrogenic chronic illness. This sort of diet can also help a lot of mental health issues. People learn to avoid taking psychiatric drugs to begin with by eating this way. Basically it's a diet that helps one get optimal nutrition all around so that one can get as healthy as possible body/mind and spirit. It is essentially a paleo diet that I've talked about in this post too: Food as Medicine

(Psychotropic) drugs are drugs are drugs…

The fact is recreational drugs are rarely as bad as they're made out to be and psychiatric drugs are generally much more dangerous than anyone who is given them are ever told...psycho active drugs are psycho active drugs...and we live in a drug culture...so that both classes, recreational and prescribed are used far more often than is safe or sound.

Orgasm Inc.

This documentary film is a great intro to how pharma works for people who are not otherwise affected by its deviousness. This film documents what is an attempt to make EVERY woman feel like she is not enough and therefore needs a drug. This is done via disease mongering -- the creation of disease where there may not be one at all. It's something that happens in all of "medicine" for the express purpose of selling pharmaceuticals. It's rampant in psychiatry.
