there is so much supporting evidence about what I'm saying about tardive dyskinesia, psych meds and systemic infections..... this is the latest... in Nature magazine: How SSRI antidepressants help bacteria resist antibiotics!! if you don't know what I'm taking about see: Tardive Dyskinesia, Chronic Lyme Disease, and Infection – Mad In America Here are my... yahoo lifestyle interviewed me in April 2018 — the article is up today… (In recovery — from antidepressants)
I did emphasize the fact that all psych meds have withdrawal issues. Unfortunately this article, like most that hit the mainstream don't do much to acknowledge that reality. Still, it's always good to see coverage of this sort out there.
Laura Delano and Kelly Brogan are also quoted. Yay, us. We've all been at this for a long time and it's good to see our work being recognized.
Psych drugs harm. Let’s get high profile MDs and celebrities – spreading the message
There are quite a few relatively mainstream doctors now talking about the harms of benzodiazepines and anti-depressants on social media. As usual other psychiatric drugs (neuroleptics, anti-convulsants, -- called anti-psychotics and mood stabilizers, etc) are given short shrift. This is about informed consent. If people don't know about the very serious potential risks involved in... Continue Reading →
How antidepressants (and benzos) ruined my life: Luke Montagu
The UK Times Magazine today publishes a long article describing CEP founder Luke Montagu’s terrible experience with antidepressants and sleeping pills: "When he was first prescribed these drugs at 19, Montagu was not depressed and had never been diagnosed with depression. He was a student at New York University, and had recently undergone a general anaesthetic for a sinus operation that left him with headaches and feeling, as he puts it, “not myself”. Without carrying out any tests, a British GP announced that he had a “chemical imbalance of the limbic system” and prescribed Prozac. Montagu, “impressionable and in awe of doctors”, swallowed them unquestioningly … [click on title to read and view more]
Contrary to popular opinion “major depression” can respond to non-drug options!
YES, thank you...don't believe the hype about how essential drugs are in severe cases. It's possible to make healthy choices and avoid neurotoxic and dangerous drugs most of the time. People need to be offered options as a very real possibility. As it stands now people are often misled to believe they need drugs when another method of care may actually be more appropriate for long-term positive outcomes. "Alternative" care needs to become mainstream so that people might become truly and deeply healthy. … [click on title for the rest of the post]
A horrifying journey through the medical system
A story of iatrogenic injury caused by SSRIs and other psych meds presented at TEDMED. It's important that these stories be told at these mainstream venues. Spread this one around your networks. There will be people who will recognize themselves and perhaps also find the courage to escape this sort of situation that happens to 1000s everyday all over the country and the world. … [click on title for the rest of the post]
An ordinary & successful, middle-aged man’s story of going down the antidepressant rabbit hole
This is the story of an ordinary and successful, middle-aged man going down the antidepressant rabbit hole. He had no history of psychiatric care or psych drug use until he was well into maturity. We're so often told psychiatric drug withdrawal issues are from "pre-existing conditions." There are many who hang on to that belief and try to deny the harm the drugs cause. Folks like this man help make it clear that this is something that can happen to anyone who takes these drugs and it does happen to us without discrimination of any kind. There are many thousands and maybe millions impacted in some way by how these drugs debilitate. A lot of people don't even know that is why they're sick. These drugs make people sick and doctors don't even know that is why there is so much chronic illness in those labeled with mental illness. The drugs create illness that was never there. It's an epidemic that is being denied. … [click on title to read and view more]
Have you considered histamine intolerance associated with psych drug use and withdrawal?
Discovering this histamine link was a very critical part of my healing journey and it ushered in a time of more rapid improvements once I started tending to it. Here Dr. David Healy supports what some of us have found in his antidepressant withdrawal guide. (it should be noted that this information is relevant to folks who have taken other psych meds as well as most of them impact histamine) … [click on title for the rest of the post]
Why I think antidepressants cause more harm than good (The Lancet, by Peter Gøtzsche)
Peter Gøtzsche responds to David Nutt et al in The Lancet Psychiatry (journal). This is an important conversation that's happening in a public forum in the UK....I'm also sharing a video with Peter Gøtzsche below that I've shared before. He's doing critically important work and making lots of people very uncomfortable. Those of us who've been gravely harmed are very appreciative that he's speaking the truth where it most needs to be shared right now. … [click on title for the rest of the post]
