Rethinking Antidepressants for the 1000th time: chemical imbalance is BS. New cycle of horror and shock. Depression isn't caused by low serotonin! ~~ (photo is a news headline from the Guardian...it was covered in news all over the world) Yes, it's happened again. Mainstream outlets everywhere are decrying this travesty. This "news" about the chemical imbalance theory cycles through the media every few years. (for at least the last 20 yrs)...Always presented as though it's new and shocking

YES, thank you...don't believe the hype about how essential drugs are in severe cases. It's possible to make healthy choices and avoid neurotoxic and dangerous drugs most of the time. People need to be offered options as a very real possibility. As it stands now people are often misled to believe they need drugs when another method of care may actually be more appropriate for long-term positive outcomes. This is the story of an ordinary and successful, middle-aged man going down the antidepressant rabbit hole. He had no history of psychiatric care or psych drug use until he was well into maturity. We're so often told psychiatric drug withdrawal issues are from "pre-existing conditions." There are many who hang on to that belief and try to deny the harm the drugs cause.
