New cycle of horror and shock. Depression isn’t caused by low serotonin!

(photo is a news headline from the Guardian…it was covered in news all over the world)

Yes, it’s happened again. Mainstream outlets everywhere are decrying this travesty.

This “news” about the chemical imbalance theory cycles through the media every few years. (for at least the last 15 yrs)…Always presented as though it’s new and shocking. Some of us have known this and tried to protect people for years. SSRIs actually gravely harm a lot of people as most of the readers of this site know. (how are you all doing, say hello in the comments please! it’s been a while)

I’m sharing an article from my website from 2012: the title being “Chemical imbalance myth takes a big public fall

ha ha…see, it never registered.

I started writing about this stuff in 2007. Oh well.

Lots more on DEPRESSION and SSRI’s in the archives of this site. It’s clearly still new information to lots of people.

Help keep the site up and running PAYPAL I don’t post as often but people still use the archives a whole lot! It costs to keep it operating.

  1. I meant to add, I don’t know if you have heard his story or not but, there is an actor who is now posting a lot who was hurt by psych drugs. He has akathisia, dystonia and tardive dyskinesia. He’s trying to raise money to go to a clinic to help the TD called Spero (sp?) clinic, I think it’s in Arkansas. They have apparently helped cases of TD before. I don’t know what is involved and realize everyone is different, but I thought I would mention it in case it’s of help to you, and in case you are able to spread the word to try to get his help too. His name is Joey Marino and he has a website Joey’s Jagged Journey. He has a GoFundMe page: https://www.gofundme.com/f/u29rh-help-joey-heal?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=p_cf+share-flow-1

It’s also listed on the site too.

Hope it’s okay to post this here too, and hope you are doing well. Thanks for all of your great work.

  2. Hello! How are you doing? Been following your work for a long time. I had akathisia and tardive dyskinesia, wondering how you are doing as I read that you had TD too.

  3. Recently Thomas Insel was a guest on Ezra Klein’s podcast (New York Times). Insel was promoting his book and… well, you can figure out the rest.

I listened to the conversation days before the “big news” broke out.
