New study shows antipsychotic drugs can suppress the immune system. ~~ This article came up as a memory on Facebook. I never posted the following thoughts on the topic and am doing so now for the sake of those who wish to do more research. this is what I wrote (with some edits) and it remains true: yes, "antipsychotics" (neuroleptic pharmaceuticals) suppress the immune system. That is exactly what they do, and frankly, how they "work".

I like to remind people that "antipsychotics" are really misnamed. They are a class of drugs called neuroleptics and quite often do not do anything at all to mitigate psychosis. They are major tranquilizers and neurotoxic drugs that harm and use should be minimized as much as possible.
