The case against antipyschotic drugs

Denise left a link to this paper in a comment. Since I love Robert Whitaker and I skimmed the paper and it seems to be up to his usual standard of greatness I'm posting the link here: The case against antipsychotic drugs: a 50 year record of doing more harm than good See a post... Ask for alternatives

You have six more days to e-mail to USA National Institute of Mental Health about their "Strategic Plan." NEEDED: Voices for Choices in Mental Health! Why you ought to call on NIMH for research on more CHOICES in mental health system other than drugs, drugs, and more drugs. One of the biggest funders of research... Continue Reading →

It’s not a traditional “medical detox”

I'm doing more research on the detox facility. It bugs me that I know a lot of my readers who have gone through withdrawal are so wed to the "it takes forever and you gotta suffer real bad" theory. My experience with a whole host of other readers is that is certainly not the case... Continue Reading →

Questioning every instance of medication vs. drug free recovery

The below piece was written by Steven Morgan in an email exchange that took place on one of my email lists. I thought it was a beautiful well thought out email and asked Steven if I could publish it here. It is slightly edited to allow for it to make sense in this context, links... Continue Reading →

“Schizophrenics” at Highly Elevated Cancer Risk Due to Anti-Psychotics

from Philip Dawdy's site: "Patients with schizophrenia taking antipsychotics had a 308% increased colon cancer risk." Interestingly, they had a slightly lower risk of respiratory cancer than other populations, which is kind of interesting given how many people with schizophrenia blow through cigarettes. And, then, the study's conclusion: "The increased risk of colon cancer is particularly marked in patients with schizophrenia who take antipsychotic medications." I'm not making this stuff up people. Just passing along independent peer-reviewed research, the kind that makes you wonder if psychiatrists actually happen to read academic journals, given current practices in the industry. That's not to say that anti-psychotics cause colon cancer per se--that would require further study--but something rather ugly is clearly going on here.

The tide changes (always)

I seem to have recovered from my too fast withdrawal from Risperdal. It took reinstating a small amount of the drug and an additional two months for recovery, but I've managed to come through it. Most amazing is that I've been premenstrual the last two weeks and had virtually NO symptoms. This is awesome. It's... Continue Reading →

Alternative medicine is often practiced with the limited mindset of conventional medicine

By Mike Adams at NewsTarget You may be surprised to learn that as much as prescription drugs are now being shown to be dangerous for human health, there's also a big problem in the way people turn to alternative medicines such as Chinese herbs, Western herbs, nutritional supplements and superfood supplements. And that problem is... Continue Reading →
