Natural Intelligence: our human inheritance

By Jen Peer Rich

There are good arguments made for all sides. Terrorism, mental health, economic injustice, the suffering of other species and the earth, refugees, gun control, health care– the points have many voices that rise up to speak for or against.

The points get made, but notice they never get dealt with in a meaningful way? Do you wonder why?

Amid the noise of the modern industrialized world, woven intimately within the striving that comes with living in a broken system of economic and social hierarchies, and underpinning the dominate culture machine that tells us who we are, there is another layer of life happening that is hardly noticed.

We have been conditioned since we were kids to tune out this layer. We are encouraged every day to ignore it. We pay others to help us forget it. Most of us are addicted to the many vices that dislocate us from this layer.

Every system that seeks to control the earth, animals, people and resources has a vested interest in keeping this layer hypnotized and obscured by our own beliefs. Because we are distracted and busy making good points in the mind, points generated by beliefs, we have, over many generations, forgotten our natural intelligence in exchange for the compulsive thinking of modern life.

Natural intelligence allows all points to be made. It is not otherworldly, transcendent or even spiritual, what I am calling intelligence is our fundamental operating system. It’s is our interconnected consciousness, one with the earth and connected with all beings. It is this foundation, when made conscious through inquiry, that holds the promise of actually dealing with all the points and problems.

The reason we don’t deal with all the good points everyone is making is because we are collectively hypnotized by the ability to take all this available information and form it into thought. We don’t do much else with those thoughts, except think passionately about our own ideas.

Humans have forgotten our base operating system.

We ARE capable of dealing with with what is happening in the world, in a real way, more capable than we can imagine. A meaningful investigation into our own minds, thoughts and beliefs with courage and honesty means addressing suffering directly, welcoming solitude so we can nurture a relationship with our own mind. This is what the world needs desperately.

Right now. We need a badass army of silent warriors who are remembering, who are healing from the inside out, we need many hearts remembering being the ancient intelligence of all points.
