Radical ecopsychology. The human animal as part of the world around us.

As a species on the brink of many sorts of environmental disasters that threaten our world and our lives, we need an ecopsychology. We need it now. Consider this. … [click on title to read post]

I am the oppressor

By Jen Peer Rich -- When will we recognize that we are all being oppressed and oppressing all the time? If any one part of the system is oppressed, so too am I oppressed. Humans, animals, the earth, it's all under the heavy weight of oppression. Every being deserves to be championed by the system from which it is born. We are all participating in the fate of every life. We have many communities within our life system that need rehabilitation from the oppressions that come with the belief in separation and the dislocation of the psyche from nature. So long as we keep the competition between oppressions alive, we can't really help. .. [click title to read the rest]

No apologies for being sensitive to the earth and its suffering

By Jen Peer Rich -- If we took a mere 50% of our global weaponry and technology resources and applied them towards sustainability actions, we could live in a much different world. It's possible to stop kicking the earth in the teeth with destructive behaviors. Why not address the suffering of our species and endless other species? But we don't. We keep feeding the machinery of separation. And why? … [click on title for the rest of the post]

A way to be on this earth and not shy away from the pain

Wow. Just wow! A wave of gratitude arriving on the shores of a radical earth based faith that is lived, a faith that is in and of itself, nature being natural. Nature engages constantly with itself like this. I'll share here that there is this heartbreak in me, a general sadness and despair I feel about many of the issues we face as a collective earth and as a human species. The suffering on this planet often overwhelms me. I sense along with many other animals that whether by natural events or by our own human hands, probably a convergence of both, this earth our home and everything that lives on it is in for massive changes and challenges in the next century and we will need new ways to engage on this planet if we are to make it without devolving into a big ugly mess. And yet life goes on! Even if nature shakes off the current natural inhabitants, life will go on in some new way and so we live on endlessly. … [click on title to read and view more]

Today is earth day. Really EVERYDAY is earth day. Love our mother.

Recycle, re-use, buy local, walk, ride a bike, take public transport. Save our planet. It’s up to you and me. There are no other causes as important as this one because without the earth, well, we won’t have to bother fighting for the rights of human beings anymore, will we? This is it. This is the most critical issue of our time. … [click on title for the rest of the post]

Neurotoxins in our environment threaten our brains, bodies and the planet

We are actively poisoning ourselves and the environment. Insult after insult, from the time we're in the womb. Those of us struck gravely ill from psychiatric drugs are part of this continuum of toxic exposures leading to all manner of illnesses and disability. … [click on title for the rest of the post]

The roots of all living things are tied together

The roots of all living things are tied together deep in the ground of being, they tangle and embrace. This understanding is expressed in the term nonduality. If we look deeply, we find that we do not have a separate self- identity, a self that does not include sun, and wind, earth and water, creatures and plants, and one another. We cannot exist without the the presence and support of the interconnecting circles of creation -- the geosphere, the biosphere, the hydrosphere, the atmosphere and the sphere of our sun. All are related to us. We depend on each of these spheres for our very existence. … [click on title to read the rest]
