Feeling broken?

I shared the below on Facebook the other day…I thought that together they make a nice little post.

I needed to remember this tonight and a friend conveniently shared this quote that I’ve found comfort in many times now:

Make no mistake about it – enlightenment is a destructive process. It has nothing to do with becoming better or being happier. Enlightenment is the crumbling away of untruth. It’s seeing through the facade of pretense. It’s the complete eradication of everything we imagined to be true. ~ Adyashanti

And shortly after that, this one popped up. Via Madhupa Maypop (thank you!)

Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.  ~ Louise Erdrich, from “The Painted Drum
