the missing mother – a poem

the missing mother

I was born into a home that was in grief.
Another mother had died.
We all loved her with agonizing Purity
and yet my father didn’t allow us to speak her name.
She is a ghost in our family that needs knowing.
She is Mother Teresa.
The mother of my siblings.
The mother who took me under her Wing when nobody else did.
She is here with me wanting Union in our family.
The ancestors and our pets know everything.
Go to them and watch and listen and speak because they hear and know.
Most of the children still know too…
watch them make googly eyes at them
let them know that you are there watching because they are lonely.
Their parents have forgotten who and what they are.
Their parents hide behind their shit.
Just like ours did and just like we do.
