Another MD fails: Adrenals and Cortisol in Withdrawal

Adrenal functioning tends to get even worse over the course of a psych drug withdrawal so it makes sense to look at them again. From the very beginning these docs at this practice have wanted me to take Cortisol, a natural steroid, to pump up my adrenals. Way early on, before I knew what I was doing,  I looked at the side effect profile and said NO–it was a gut feeling. Since then I’ve studied my circumstance in depth and consulted with numerous people all over the country and I now have tons of anecdotal evidence that taking Cortisol in my condition is downright dangerous. I’ve been telling them this for about 3 years now. (now I know that it could even be life-threatening for me) ...

This is one of the roots of "mental illness" and we're all doing it aren't we? When we argue "mental illness" is hereditary don't you think sick family dynamics might just possibly be one of the major problems?? When we speak of nature it is wrong to forget that we are ourselves a part of nature. We ought to view ourselves with the same curiosity and openness with which we study a tree, the sky or a thought, because we too are linked to the entire universe. -- Matisse

Treating schizophrenia without drugs? There’s good evidence for it.

Excerpts from a paper at psychminded.org: Award-winning researcher and psychiatrist Tim Calton examines studies demonstrating how psychosis can be managed without medication. Such non-drug approaches shoud no longer be ignored, he argues. Over two hundred years ago medical psychiatry planted its standard within the realm of the human experience of 'madness', quickly becoming the dominant... Continue Reading →

Vogue Magazine takes on the toxicity of Paxil in pregnancy!!

Amazing but true!! This is a major victory. Vogue is as mainstream and (frankly disgusting) a magazine as you can get, but it's so outrageously popular that this is really amazing and wonderful and may save hundreds of babies lives. It talks about the risks of taking medications in general while pregnant. With all the... Continue Reading →
