“I am as bad as the worst, but, thank God, I am as good as the best”

I had the good fortune of studying Walt Whitman as a student in college. I cannot say I understood what I was being presented with at the time, but I can say that he got into my cells even then, without my knowing, and now I can begin to appreciate the genius that he’s imparted to anyone who takes the time to feel into the magic of his words. … [click on title for the rest of the post]

Fall equinox today…energy shifts underway….

The longer I am psych drug free the more amazing my connection to all things becomes apparent. Not just the seasons, but the cycles of the moon, the weather, sun flares and everything in my environment matters. Yes! Everything matters. We are deeply holistic critters and we are part of all of life and the universe.

I’m so glad to now understand this wondrous process so that I might choose to ride the waves rather than suppress them or otherwise try to run away from my very nature. There may be a time and place to hide from and/or slow down the process, but that, too, should be a choice. For me now, drug free, all these shifts and changes provide data — information — that I might continue to learn to live well and my healing continues to amaze and humble me. It is through this amazing life that I am healed and changed. Life is energy and love that gives us all we need if we are open to receiving it. … [click on title to read and view more]

Fall photos: Appalachia is bursting with color and beauty

We went up to high altitudes today and caught some of the fall colors. It was beautiful and cold too. There was ice on the trees! That was a surprise. Today is the first cold day, but I certainly didn’t expect freezing ice in the trees. Altitude changes everything.

Anyway…just wanted to share. Fall is very special in this part of the world. Check out the slideshow! … [click on title for the rest of the post]

In Praise of Pleasure

By Jon Keyes – Pleasure is underrated these days. People ask, “What do you do for a living? What are you working on?” I can’t lately remember someone asking me “what do you do for pleasure?” “How do you feel joy?” Perhaps as our lives fade, those are the things we will remember the most, not what we built, but how well we slowed down and connected, tasted and touched, savored with delight and pleasure. … [click on title for the rest of the post]

Spring/Summer energetic shifts and yoga

Lately I’ve not been able to go to my yoga classes. I was going to 2 to 4 classes a week in the spring. Summer brought lower energy last year too. I’m needing to be slow and careful with my body again this summer too. But the change in energy, while reminiscent of last year, is far less impactful this year. Last year I was having far more trouble with this shift and was much more exhausted and just felt really sick again. This year, it’s far easier to see it as a natural rhythm my body goes through with the seasons. I do miss my classes but I seem to be able to go to about 1 a week. Maybe a little less, but it’s clear to me this year that this is not a setback…this is a natural rhythm for me and I need to respect my body’s needs. In that alone there is great healing. I continue to listen to the wisdom of my body. (includes video) … [click on title for the rest of the post]

Obey me

I got an email from Thomas Fallon. He submitted the below photograph (self-portrait). I thought it was powerful and that too many of us know what that image is conveying. It’s hard for me to look at, but I’ve been there. Have you? … [click on title for the rest of the post]

Many dangerous drugs have been used to therapeutic effect

Many dangerous drugs have been used to therapeutic effect I don’t ever deny that…there is a time and place for most things under the sun.

Pharma dangerously, for capitalistic purposes, pushes drugs that should be used once in a blue moon to the masses…harming 1000s and killing many as well. … [click on title to read and view more]

Psychiatric Drugs Send 90,000 to the ER Yearly

Can you say iatrogenic injury? Never mind the many thousands of us who suffer protracted withdrawal issues causing disability that are completely denied by the medical establishment…most of us have to start hiding from doctors who want to give us more drugs rather than give our poor bodies the chance to heal. … [click on title for the rest of the post]
