Trauma and the body

Trauma that is held in the body over time freezes…the healing process requires defrosting…it can be painful…physically and emotionally. Their is no separation between body and mind. The body is mind, the mind is body. So what is done to the body is done to the mind and what is done to the mind is done to the body. It’s a vibrant, synergistic relationship of oneness.

Speaking to “normals” about our hypersensitivity

Through the years, as a means to survive, I’ve sculpted my social-media so that I don’t have to listen to a lot of otherwise very offensive stuff about the experience of those of us with extreme sensitivities,  and iatrogenic and chronic illness. Still, because I care about some of the folks who continue to say insensitive, ignorant things about us, I do encounter it from time to time. In fact we cannot hide from the ignorance in the world about our experience and still live in the world and so I’m entering a phase of healing and learning that is helping me re-enter the world. That means facing such insults daily. …

Mindfulness / Meditation, Complex Trauma: Rewards and Risks

What media hype and those selling mindfulness don’t tell you is that mindfulness is a process that can radically transform you, and it’s not always safe, nor is it easy or straightforward. We make it safer by being aware of the risks and learning to listen to our own bodies about when it is or isn’t okay for us. No one else actually knows.

On trauma (The Sinner, Netflix)

What I just finished was, “The Sinner” (Netflix) …a deep and disturbing and profoundly beautiful filmed series about heinous ongoing trauma and how it played out for this particular woman. …

The somatic imperative and meditation

The somatic imperative and meditation — Most of my deep meditations still happen while lying down. This remains necessary because the somatic experience remains far too intense to otherwise tolerate sitting. Update: *at this point, several years later, meditation is a 24/7 thing for me. it happens in all positions.* In order to profoundly allow… Continue Reading →

Somatic mysticism: reframing “hypersensitivity”

Somatic mysticism: reframing “hypersensitivity”. I can feel my cells doing their work quite often and I feel all manner of metabolic movement and I feel far more than I can even begin to really know from a biological standpoint. Still when I listen and pay attention I collect data, information to act on. With this info I continue to heal and become (consciously) one with all that is.

Transformative healing: more working with parts (sub-personalities) — the god/higher-self/life-force part

Trauma causes splits in the psyche. Working with parts or subpersonalities is one of the ways of healing such splits. …

The brain (body/mind) that heals itself

What happened to my brain and nervous system as a result of long-time psych drug use was that it’s capacity to feel shrunk –literally. I’m now growing new capacities…encouraging new neuropathways and pruning less than ideal ones. I can feel this happening. Really. Anyone can do this given the right circumstances…support and resources are needed. This is why I do the work I do. We are hurting people with neurotoxic drugs that impede growth and healing. At best all they do is suppress and control. …

Expertly guided by the genius of my DNA

Healing is, among other things, a process of creating new mitochondria and new neural pathways. The body is transformed. I’ve never been here before — expertly guided by the genius of my DNA. Healing in part for me is a deep acknowledgement and acceptance of my animal nature. I am interdependent with all of life just like any other creature on this earth. This understanding when taken in deeply and profoundly is as painful as it is liberating and therefore joyful too. …
