Martin Luther King Jr.

Here’s to being maladjusted. As Will Hall says at the beginning of each of his Madness Radio programs, “What’s it mean to be called crazy in a crazy world?”

We should not be adjusted to an insane and sick society full of injustice and bigotry. It is no wonder so many people are hurting in today’s society with our values so skewed and crazy. Materialism and greed and racism and homophobia and religious intolerance and stigma and child abuse and rape and genocide and on and on and on.

Sorry this is late…I’ve been out of commission most of the day.

and another quote:

This hour in history needs a dedicated circle of transformed nonconformists. Our planet teeters on the brink of annihilation; dangerous passions of pride, hatred, and selfishness are enthroned in our lives; and men do reverence before false gods of nationalism and materialism. The saving of our world from pending doom will come, not through the complacent adjustment of the conforming majority, but through the creative maladjustment of a nonconforming minority.

  1. “With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.” –

    – Martin Luther King, Jr – From the ‘March on Washington’

    Yours in faith,
