Healing is, in the end, the marriage of opposites

paradoxToday when I woke up I had just had a very dark and dystopian dream.  I considered the fact that two days ago I awoke from a dream that was quite the opposite — in it I was a shamanic healing Goddess with light coming out of my hands. I love that my psyche in two days time was visiting both light and dark…I see that this is how we heal in the bringing together of these extremes. My healing journey has been in so many ways about visiting and healing opposites and embracing paradox.

So first thing I did was tweet this tweet.

Promptly upon tweeting that everything I did this morning ran me into quotes that were also considering the natural poles that we exist with here as human beings on this planet. I’m going to share them as this theme this morning has delighted me.

From BrainPickings today I found:

…in each of us two powers preside, one male, one female; and in the man’s brain the man predominates over the woman, and in the woman’s brain the woman predominates over the man. The normal and comfortable state of being is that when the two live in harmony together, spiritually co-operating. If one is a man, still the woman part of his brain must have effect; and a woman also must have intercourse with the man in her. – Virginia Woolf

and from a dear friend on Facebook I saw this:

I needed to be willing to embrace my All — my horror and my holiness, my murderer and my mystic, my Goddess and my SheDevil — in order to Come Home. Sera Beak

And then there was Madonna this morning too, which I also simply delighted in. She had a photo on Instagram with this one-liner.

If you don’t like me and still watch everything I do. Bitch, you’re a fan. – Madonna

Yes, it’s true…attachment and aversion are the same thing! I am pleased to be in on the joke.
