Valentine's day is sorta a bogus holiday, but cheers to all my readers in any case and if you have any expectations for the day, may they be met in spades.
Out of curiosity, I glanced at the “Birthdays” column in today’s newspaper.
The name of another notorious monster from history lept out at me: “Sir” Francis Galton… born today, February 16th, 1822.
Galton was Charles Darwin’s cousin and the founder of the Eugenics Societies of England and America.
Galton was another fascist of the Malthus tradition. A disciple of Reverend Malthus, Galton also believed that the “undesirables” in society should be exterminated or, at best, sterilised and incarcerated, for the greater good.
The “race hygiene” programmes of the Nazis relied heavily on Galton’s rogue science of Eugenics. Under the academic cover of their bogus new religion, the Nazi Eugenicists exterminated more than 10 million souls in the death camps of Occupied Europe.
After WWII, the Eugenics Society was forced to rename itself – the Galton Institute. And it us under that sanitised new moniker that the Eugenics movement survives to this day, still working in partnership with “Modern” Psychiatry promoting “racial hygiene”.
After WWII, many of the leading Eugenicists and Psychiatrists from the former Third Reich were secretly smuggled out of Germany under a top-secret programme called Project Paperclip.
The Nazi Eugenics programmes continued late into the 20th century, in numerous psychiatric institutions in the UK, USA and other allied nations.
It must be 10 years since I chatted with the producer of a Channel Four television documentary about an ongoing Eugenics programme in Sweden.
In the making of that documentary, the producer interviewed many ex-psychiatric patients, the mentally disabled, gypsies and other “undesirables” who were all forcibly sterilised or used in psychiatric experiments, for the greater good.
Hell has sent us Francis Galton .. Dr Ernst Rudin .. Dr Otmar Verschuer .. Dr Josef Mengele .. Dr Ewen “MKULTRA” Cameron .. and more presently, Dr E. Fuller Torrey..
For those who can’t or won’t celebrate St Valentine’s Day, there is always an alternative reason to remember February 14th, but it ain’t quite so romantic…
Today is the birthday of Thomas Malthus, the notorious 19th century “population expert” of the British Empire. Malthus was born today, February 14, 1766.
Malthus believed that the world back then was overpopulated and that the gene pool needed a clean out of the detritus.
According to Malthus’ and his genocidal depopulation plans, all the lunatics, Jews, gays, blacks – the Untermenschen in Nazi lingo – all had to go, to make way for wholesome white Anglo-Saxons – like Reverend Malthus and the rest of the Aryan people.
Much of Malthus’ beliefs were adopted by Charles Darwin, who used them to model his own theory of the “survival of the fittest”.
To appeal to multiple audiences, Darwin crudely fused the fascist views of Malthus to the equally ruthless laissez-faire doctrines of the free market economist of that era, Adam Smith.
Hmm.. decisions decisions.. So who to celebrate today?
St Valentine the Martyr vs. Thomas Malthus, tool of the English Crown?
though for single people or people wanting romance the holiday is fraught with strife…and that’s what I think about…
I grew up always feeling bad I didn’t have a “valentine.”
also now, as it’s so close to my birthday I still get vaguely disappointed that my partner doesn’t care much about being romantic on this day…old habits die hard…
It is a good excuse to send little items to your friends and relatives if you feel like it…and if you don’t feel like it…no one will be slighted. My mom used to give me hair things or barrettes…and sometimes sexy underwear. This year I sent her a tiny, little teddy bear that I bought at a thrift store. It was totally clean…looked new….and she appreciated it. And if I had not….she wouldn’t even have noticed.

So why will we never learn from history?
I remember Malthus from reading ” Brave New World”. The women’s birth control was in the form of a “Malthusian belt”.
