Gossip Demeans Ourselves and Others

Speaking about others behind their back is a way of inflating a sense of self. This short talk explores how gossip contracts our heart. It creates separation from others and from our own highest nature.

I spent a lot of time with Tara Brach’s work several years ago. Below is the work that brought me to her. I still carry the teachings from Radical Acceptance with me. She is perhaps the first teacher who brought the idea of deep acceptance of reality to my consciousness….at least in an explicit way.

As a fun little side-note, I once washed the dinner dishes with her after a meal at a mutual friend’s house. We did them mindfully.:)

I found both the below book and guided meditations greatly inspiring. These are excellent introductory materials that can apply to anyone regardless of whether one is drawn to Buddhism. Tara Brach is also a psychologist and draws from her practice when sharing her thoughts in the book.
