I used to do news roundups a couple of times a week. It’s been a long time since I’ve done that. Yesterday, though, I tweeted and shared a lot from Robyn O’brien’s facebook and twitter feeds, so I thought I’d share that here today. She’s right here on twitter at the @unhealthytruth.
TIME investigates the hidden costs of food allergies, from medical care to drugs to food: $4,184 per child per year
I have a really great post that includes a TED talk with Robyn O’brien here on Beyond Meds about how our contaminated food supply is creating new food allergies.
Also from Robyn’s timeline yesterday:
“The cost of feeding U.S. youth has declined by 19% since 1960, the cost to keep them healthy has risen by almost 150%.” In other words there is an “Ugly Truth Behind Cheap Food”
And then:
“Sugar is actually a form of addiction. It’s just as hard to get rid of the urge for sweet foods as of smoking” — When I shared this on twitter and facebook yesterday people were telling me it’s been a harder habit to break then both illicit drugs, alcohol and psych drug addictions. I think that is true for many folks.
I also have some other posts on sugar and it’s dangers on Beyond Meds.
