The razor’s edge: musings and a collection

The razor’s edge is a frame I have used for many years now as a metaphor for my lived experience. I wrote a small blurb today and thought I would share it and also collect other posts with this idea and framing of life.

My newest musings and then the collection follows:

Look to the right it’s the shadow, hell, the abyss. Turn your head and it’s the light…take in the whole entire shebang and you’re right here right now. Heaven and hell. Living on the edge of everything. Tantra. The mystery of the unknown.

everyone’s path is different. On the razor’s edge the negative is positive and the positive is negative. People who imagine that anyone is doing it wrong is imposing their limitations. Society has cast aside and burnt those on the razor’s edge at the stake. No more.

Harm reduction is the razor’s edge

***

The tip of the needle. Paradox. Tiny and tight opens up to endless expanse.

Therapists who cling to popular ideology are dangerous. People need support without bias or coercion when finding themselves. The imposition of belief on others is violence. Deconditioning is a razor’s edge for those who’ve been highly traumatized. Healing is thus also dangerous.

“The Master has no mind of her own.
She works with the mind of the people
She is good to people who are good
She is also good to people who aren’t good
This is true goodness
She trusts people who are trustworthy
She also trusts people who aren’t trustworthy
This is true trust” —tao te ching chapter 49 translated by Stephen Mitchell (who once guest lectured in one of my religious studies classes at UC Berkeley) we had fun afterwards and hung out on the grass with about 5 other students. Many academics don’t much like this translation. I quite enjoyed it.
