Crooked beauty (updated with some screening info)

I’ve mentioned this amazing documentary when it first came out, but only in a news and blogs roundup. Today for the first time I watched this trailer which is utterly amazing and beautiful. I need to get this film. If anyone who has regular contact with me has seen it and would like to write about it please let me know. I’m still not able to write much these days and this deserves more coverage. I will also try to contact the producer.

More info on the movie this short video is excerpted from here.

Crooked Beauty is a poetic documentary that will reshape how you think and feel about madness. From childhood abuse to psych ward patient to pioneering mental health advocacy, it is an intimate portrait of artist-activist Ashley McNamara’s intense personal quest to live with hope and dignity, and a powerful critique of standard psychiatric treatments. Through Ashley’s poignant testimonials and a lyrical visual style, Crooked Beauty draws new maps for madness as a tool of insight and inspiration for those who openly struggle with their mental health, and anyone who might feel ‘crazy’ in today’s chaotic world.
